Chapter 2: Motion in a Straight Line

Motion in a Straight Line (kinematics in one dimension) is where Class 11 Physics stops describing things and starts describing change. Built directly on the measurement discipline of Units and Measurements, this chapter defines distance and displacement, average and instantaneous velocity, acceleration, derives the three kinematic equations for uniformly accelerated motion, applies them to free fall, and closes with relative velocity. NTA tests it through x–t and v–t graph reading, kinematic numericals, the average-speed mean traps, free-fall Assertion–Reason items and relative-velocity integer questions. Work through the seven topic pages below in NCERT order, attempt the drill questions on each page, then take the 30-question chapter test with full answer key.
